Villa Il Mocale belonged to Buondelmonti,
rich florentine family, that built their villas
and castles in the most beautiful and most suitable
to defence places, now evidence of their wealth.
In 1427 the owners were Messer Andrea
Buondelmonti's sons, by the middle of that
century it belonged to Rinaldo di Ballerino
and then to Lorenzo de Medici.

After the driving out of Medici, this property
was bought by Bernardo and other Nasi and by
Pagalantonio of Vittorio Saderini, but duke
Alessandro, after becoming sir of Florence,
came into possession of this property again.
In the long run Gianfigliazzi's family aggregated
to villa il Mocale othe near possessions, forming
one of the widest and richest farms in the neighbourhood.
